You’ve heard it a hundred times. Your kids have heard it twice.
The boat story. How the grandparents met. The legend everyone half-remembers and nobody has written down. Families carry these in one person’s head, and they leave when that person does.
Stories gives the teller a quiet place to tell it once, properly, and a family a place to keep it.
A real one would be told by someone in your family, in their own words and, if they choose, their own voice.
Three steps, and the teller holds every one
Step 1
Tell it
Pick a prompt or just start talking. If it comes out wrong, start over. Nothing is kept until you say so.
Step 2
Read it back
Haklo writes down what you said and hands it back. You fix what was misheard, give it a title, tag who it’s about, and decide whether your voice stays with it.
Step 3
Share it
One tap files it into your family’s Record as a Story, told by you. Until then it’s a draft only you can see.
Nothing is filed until you share it, and it is filed as told by you.
If you don’t know where to start
Haklo keeps a small library of prompts in three kinds. Pick one, or skip them all and tell the story you already have in mind.

These are examples of the kind. You don’t need the app to ask one at dinner this week.
Or ask someone for one
Anyone in the family can ask someone for a story by name. It lands quietly on their phone, with no deadline attached, and it is always fine to say not now.
That is the whole invitation. A name, a story, and a door that opens from the inside.
What Haklo won’t do here
Haklo never writes the story
It writes down what you said. The title is yours, the words are yours, and no machine summarizes or polishes them.
The coach never reads it
Stories stay out of coaching entirely. Nothing you tell ends up in a nudge.
Only the teller can share it, or take it back
There is no path from draft to shared except your own tap. If someone in a story would rather it came down, that’s a request to you, and the choice stays yours.
People in a story are told, not asked
If a story names someone in the family, you tag them before you share, and they hear that it exists. Nobody has to approve a memory.
Your voice is your choice
Keep the recording so the family can hear it in your voice, or keep the words only. Either way it stays inside your family.
Where stories go
A story doesn’t sit in a feed. It goes into your family’s Record, next to the gatherings and the Roots, told by name, and anyone in the family can listen. Read back in ten years and it is still in the teller’s words.
